(1)This Act may be called the Cantonments Act, 1924.(2)It extends to the whole of India [* * *] [The words "except Part B States" were omitted by Act 53 of 1950, s.4 ] [* * *] [The words "including British Baluchistan" were rep. by the A.O.1948.].(3)The Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, direct that this Act, or any provisions thereof which it may specify, shall come into force on such [date] [1st May, 1924; see Gazette of India, 1924, Pt.I. p.217.] as it may appoint in this behalf.
