SHRI VANLAL ZAWMA : Sir, I would like to invite your kind attention about the Tuirial Hydel Project in Mizoram being undertaken by NEEPCO.
This project was initiated in the year 1999 in Mizoram. This will be the only hydel project functioning in Mizoram. NEEPCO has already spent Rs. 210 crore for the construction works. But this project has been stopped for more than one year. I would like to know the reason for the withdrawal of work on this project.
I request the Government to resume the work on this project early in the interest of the people of Mizoram.

THE MINISTER OF FINANCE (SHRI P. CHIDAMBARAM): Sir, this is a Bill which seeks to replace an Ordinance. At the request of some hon. Members I agreed that we can discuss it tomorrow. I spoke to some hon. Members and I do not wish to take their names. They agreed that they will meet me at 5 o'clock and they will seek some clarifications in my office. I have invited them to my office. They have agreed to take it up tomorrow. Now, they cannot stand up and surprise me by saying that we will not take it up tomorrow and that it should go to the Standing Committee. The hon. Speaker has made a request. He told the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs to accommodate the views of some hon. Members and to clarify whatever doubts they have got and the Bill will be taken up tomorrow. So, it is not fair on the part of Shri Kashiram Rana to raise the issue on which he had agreed with me that it will be taken up tomorrow.
