Section 14(1) in The Karnataka Rajya Dr. Gangubai Hangal Sangeetha Mattu Pradarshaka Kalegala Vishwavidyalaya Act, 2009
(1)Every Dean shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor from among the professors in the Faculty for a period of three years and he shall be eligible for re-appointment.Provided that if at any time there is no professor in a faculty, the Vice-Chancellor shall exercise the powers of the Dean of the Faculty.
