9. Collector to determine amount.
(1)On receipt of an application under section 8, the Collector shall, after making a formal enquiry in the manner provided in the Code, make an award determining the amount payable to the owner under section 7.(2)Where the officer making an award under sub-section (1) is a Collector under this Act, but not a Collector appointed under section 7 of the Code, and the amount of such award exceeds fifty thousand rupees, the award shall not be made without the previous approval of the Collector appointed under section 7 of the Code.
