Regarding The Decision To Withdraw The Haj Subsidy And Continue It As Earlier. on 9 August, 2018
Sixteenth Loksabha pan> Title: Regarding the decision to withdraw the Haj subsidy and continue it as earlier.
SHRI P.R. SUNDARAM (NAMAKKAL): Thank you, hon. Deputy-Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to raise an important issue.
On 16.1.2018, the Central Government has announced that Haj subsidy will be completely taken off. This move will badly affect the pilgrims, who perform Haj once in their life time.
Our hon. leader Amma had always worked for the welfare of people of all communities and religions. During her time, Amma had increased pension to Ulemasand announced Rs.3 crore financial assistance.
Now, our hon. Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palaniswami has written to the hon. Prime Minister requesting him to reconsider the decision to stop Haj subsidy. The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned Rs.8 crore for Haj pilgrims this year.
I request the Centre to reconsider the decision to withdraw the Haj subsidy and continue it as earlier. Thank you.
