- There shall be a Rector who shall be appointed by the [Executive Council] [Throughout the Act for the words 'Board of Management' the words 'Executive Council' substituted by Act No.13 of 1995.] on the recommendations of the Vice-Chancellor in such manner and on such terms and conditions as may be prescribed by the Statutes from among the senior professors. He shall exercise such powers and perform such duties as may be prescribed by the Statutes.
