Section 34(1) in The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Act, 1981
(1)Every meeting of the council shall be presided over by the Mayor, in his absence by the Deputy Mayor and in the absence of both the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor, [the councillors and the persons referred to in [clauses (b) and (c)] [Substituted by Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporation Laws (Amendment and Special Provision) Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 26 of 1994).] of sub-section (2) of section 5 shall elect one from among the councillors to preside for the occasion.]
