44. Power to summon and examine witnesses.
- Any officer empowered under this Act to conduct any inquiry may exercise all such powers connected with summoning and examining of the witnesses and the production of documents as are conferred on a civil court under the Code of Civil procedure, 1908 (Central Acts 5 of 1908) and any such inquiry shall be deemed to be a judicial proceeding.
