Section 74(2) in The Maharashtra Value Added Tax Act, 2002
(2)Whoever wilfully attempts in any manner whatsoever to evade any tax leviable under this or payment of any tax, penalty or interest under this Act, shall, on conviction, be punished with rigorous imprisonment which shall not be less than three months but which may extend to one year and with fine.
