Need To Allocate Sufficient Fund Under Central Road Fund For Widening Of Roads ... on 18 December, 2014
Sixteenth Loksabha an> Ttiel: Need to allocate sufficient fund under Central Road Fund for widening of roads from Perundurai to Kangayam and Tiruppur to Kangayam in Tiruppur District of Tamil Nadu.
SHRI S. SELVAKUMARA CHINNAYAN (ERODE): Hon. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank you for giving me this opportunity to raise a matter of urgent public importance.
Through you, I would like to draw the attention of the hon. Minister of Road Transport and Highways regarding development of two important roads in my constituency. The two State Highway Roads from Perundurai to Kangayam and Tiruppur to Kangayam in Tiruppur District of Tamil Nadu are important link roads leading to NH 47 and NH 67 respectively. Kangayam is famous for producing coconut oil and there are many rice mills in and around Kangayam. Tiruppur town is famous for hosieries and knitting industry which exports to many countries in the world. Chennimalai is also another important textile town near Kangayam. So there is a lot of traffic congestion on these two roads. At present the width of both these roads is only 7 metres. Both these roads need to be widened to 14 metres immediately to meet the ever increasing traffic.
Hence, I urge upon the hon. Minister of Road Transport and Highways to immediately allocate sufficient funds under Central Road Fund for widening of these two roads.
