Section 6(2)(h) in UGC Regulations on Curbing The Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009

(h)Each batch of freshers, on arrival at the institution, shall be divided into small groups and each such group shall be assigned to a member of the faculty, who shall interact individually with each member of the group every day for ascertaining the problems or difficulties, if any, faced by the fresher in the institution and shall extend necessary help to the fresher in overcoming the same.
