The jurisdictional area of a Police Station shall be divided into suitable number of Beats, each covering a cluster of villages or a specified town area, to be kept under the direct charge of a Constable, Head Constable or an Assistant Sub-Inspector (called Beat Officer) for maintaining regular and close contact with the villages under his charge.
