Section 38(1) in Tamil Nadu District Municipalities Act, 1920
(1)The [State Government] [The word 'Provincial Government' were substituted for the words 'Local Government' by the Adaptation Order of 1937 and the word 'State' was substituted for the word 'Provincial' by the Adaptation Order of 1850] may appoint such officers as may be required for the purpose of inspecting or superintending the operations of all or any of the municipal councils established under this Act.
