Section 207(5) in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964
(5)When a retired officer holding higher acting. rank is promoted to the substantive rank on the retired list, he shall continue to take command in the acting rank granted to him before such substantive promotion, unless directions to the contrary are received from the Chief of the Naval Staff.
