343. Report to the Inspector-General of escape and recapture.
(1)A brief report (Form No. 148) on every escape that has taken place, shall be submitted to the Inspector-General at once, to be followed by a full report detailing the results of the enquiry which the Superintendent shall make as soon after the occurrence as possible. A copy of the judgment in the case of a prisoner tried for escaping, shall also be submitted to the Inspector-General. In the case of escapes that have not been due to negligence alone but in part to some defect in the buildings or in the method of guarding, such defect should be clearly pointed out.(2)A report of the recapture of a prisoner shall be made to the Inspector- General (Form No. 149) giving particulars of the date and circumstances of recapture and such additional details of the escape as may be elicited from the prisoner.Note. - The report in Form No. 148 and the detailed report should be submitted in duplicate for transmission of one copy to Government.
