Section 125 in The West Bengal Co-Operative Societies Act, 1983

125. Power to enforce attendance of witnesses and production of documents. -

(1)The Registrar and, subject to any restrictions prescribed, a Government officer deputed under section 28 or a committee appointed under section 29 or an administrator appointed under section 30 to manage the affairs of a co-operative society or an audit officer, arbitrator, liquidator or any person conducting an inspection or inquiry under Chapter X shall, in so far as necessary for carrying out any of the purposes of this Act, have power to summon and to enforce the attendance of witnesses and parties concerned and to examine them upon oath and to compel the production of any books, accounts, documents, securities, cash and other properties by the same means and so far as may be in the same manner as provided in the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.
(2)Where any person summoned under sub-section (1) fails or refuses to produce any book, account, document, security, cash or other property specified in the summons, any Metropolitan Magistrate or Judicial Magistrate of the first class in whose jurisdiction such person resides shall without prejudice to the penal measures provided in this Act, on a complaint from the Registrar or any person authorised by him in this behalf, issue a warrant for the production of such book, account, document, security, cash or other property to the Registrar or to such authorised person:Provided that the person authorised by the Registrar shall not make any complaint under this section without the previous sanction of the Registrar.
