- It shall be lawful for the [ [State] [The words 'Provincial Government' were substituted for the words 'Governor in Council' by the Adaptation of Indian Laws Order in Council.] Government], whenever it may seem expedient, to direct survey of any land in any part of the [area to which this Act extends] [These words were substituted for the words: 'Presidency' by the Bombay Adaptation of Laws (State and Concurrent Subjects) Order, 1956.], with a view to the settlement of the land revenue, and to the record and preservation of rights connected therewith, or for any other similar purpose and such survey shall be called a revenue survey.
