SUSHRI S. JOTHIMANI (KARUR): The people in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu and across the country are facing lots of problems due to more than 6 months delay in payment of wages under MGNREGA. There is severe fund shortage under MGNREGA in the States. Payment to MGNREGA workers has been stopped for the last six months and people are suffering.
I urge the Central Government to provide adequate funds for MGNREGA wages to the state governments at the earliest.
The Government must take immediate steps to help the daily wage workers whose livelihood is at stake. People in many areas of my parliamentary constituency of Karur and other parts of Tamil Nadu are still awaiting their hard earned wages for many months. There is fund shortage under MGNREGA in other states as well. The Government must release more funds under MGNREGA at the earliest.
