Section 43(1) in The Maharashtra District Planning Committee (Election) Rules, 1999
(1)As soon as practicable after the closing of the poll, the Presiding Officer shall, in the presence of any candidates, or their election agents, close the slit of the ballot box and where the ballot box does not contain any mechanical device for closing the slit, he shall seal up the slit and also allow any polling agent to affix his seal.
