7. Amendment of section 5.
In section 5 of the principal Act,—(i)in the marginal heading, for the words and figures “Sections 3 and 4”, the words “Certain provisions” shall be substituted;(ii)for sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:—(1) The provisions of section 3 shall not apply to collaborative research projects involving transfer or exchange of biological resource or traditional knowledge associated thereto between institutions, including Government sponsored institutions of India, and such institutions in other countries, if such collaborative research projects satisfy the conditions specified in sub-section (3).
