Section 47(3) in The Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957
(3)On the occurrence of any casual vacancy in the office of the Chairman or the Deputy Chairman, the Standing Committee shall within one month of the occurrence of such vacancy elect one of its members [who is a Councillor] [Inserted by Act 67 of 1993, section 41 (w.e.f. 1-10-1993)] as Chairman or Deputy Chairman, as the case may be, and the Chairman or the Deputy Chairman so elected shall hold office for the remainder of his predecessor's term.
