- Any Gold Control Officer authorised in this behalf by the Administrator may, if he has any reason to suspect that any person has secreted about his person or in any other thing,-(a)any gold in respect of which he suspects that any provision of this Act has been, or is being, or is about to be, contravened;(b)any document which, in his opinion, will be useful for, or relevant to any inquiry or proceeding in relation to the contravention of any provision of this Act or of any rule or order made thereunder, detain and search such person or thing: provided that the period of detention, if any, under this section shall not exceed twenty-four hours.
