(11)For any treatment plan, requiring multiple patient encounters, an explanation and instruction shall be provided to the patient by the Primary Consultant at the beginning of such treatment plan and shall be in accordance with the requirements of these rules.Explanation. - 'encounter' means an instance of direct provider to patient interaction, regardless of the setting, between a patient and a provider for diagnosing, evaluating or treating the patient's condition, exercising independent judgment. Encounters occur in many different settings -- ambulatory care, inpatient care, emergency care, home health care, field and virtual (telemedicine).
