Section 22 in The Assam Agricultural Produce Market Act, 1972

22. Certain differences regarding construction of rules, etc., about weight and measures to be decided by marked committee.

(1)Notwithstanding anything contained in the Assam Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act, 1956, if any difference arises between the Inspector or any other officer, empowered to enforce the aforesaid Act and any person interested, as to the meaning or construction of any rule framed under the aforesaid Act, as to the method of evolving, adjusting or stamping any weight or measure or weighing or measuring instrument in any market area, such difference may, at the request of the person interested or by the Inspector or the officer of his own accord, be referred to the market committee of the area and the decision of the market committee shall, subject to the provisions of sub-section (2), be final and deemed to have been given under the Assam Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act, 1956 (Assam Act XIX of 1956).
(2)An appeal shall lie against the decision of the market committee within thirty days (excluding the time required for taking copies) from the date of the decision under sub-section (1) to the State Government or such officer, as the State Government may appoint in this behalf. The decision of the State Government or such officer, as the case may be, on such appeal shall be final.
