Regarding Amaravati – Anantapur Expressway Project. on 6 February, 2018

Sixteenth Loksabha an> Title: Regarding  Amaravati – Anantapur Expressway Project.

SHRI JAYADEV GALLA (GUNTUR): The 394 kms long Amaravati-Anantapur Expressway would be the longest in the country which will not have any curves or turns. With the help of two feeder highways connecting Kurnool and Kadapa, this Expressway becomes nearly 600 kms long. This Expressway reduces the distance between Amaraviti and Anantapur by more than 100 kms and travel time by nearly 5 hours. So, this is a very important Expressway for Amaravati and Rayalaseema. This Expressway is the need of the hour since there is no proper connectivity between Rayalaseema and the new capital Amaravati.

The Minister for Road Transport and Highways has made an announcement at the India Transport Logistics Summit 2017 regarding Amaravati-Anantapur Expressway.

After bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the residuary State is left with little or no infrastructure and Government of India (GOI) assured that it would do everything for Andhra Pradesh (AP). So, this is one project which will open tremendous opportunities. But, some reports appearing in the media indicate that GOI wanted State to bear land acquisition cost by including it under Grand Challenge of Bharatmala. AP is reeling under severe financial crunch hence, it is not possible for it to acquire land on its own.

In view of the above, I request the  Minister of Road Transport and Highways to direct the officials concerned in the Ministry to immediately allot National Highway number to  Amaravati-Anantapur Expressway without any further delay and take up the entire project and complete it before 2019.
