Section 14(2) in The Asansol Municipal Corporation Act, 1990.
(2)The Chief Executive Officer and the Finance Officer shall be appointed-(a)by the State Government in consultation with the Mayor-in-Council, by notification, from amongst persons who are or have been in the service of the Government, or(b)if so directed by the State Government, by the Mayor-in-Council in consultation with the State Public Service Commission:Provided that the appointment of such officers shall be on such terms and conditions and for such period, not exceeding five years in the first instance, as the State Government may determine:Provided further that the State Government may, in consultation with the Mayor-in-Council, extend the period from time to time, so, however, that the total period of extension does not exceed five years.
