Section 18 in Multi-Storeyed and Public Buildings Rules, 1973
18. Fire detecting and extinguishing systems.
- Every public building having a capacity of 1,000 persons or more, shall be provided with either a manually operated fire-alarm system coded to alert employees or attendants or with an automatic fire detection system to conform to the standards and recommendations laid down in the National Building Code of India, 1970 and to the satisfaction of the [Directorate of Fire Services.] [Now, re-designated as Directorate of Fire and Rescue Services.]Appendix ETable 2Factories| SI.
