Section 4(1) in The Meghalaya Co-operative Societies Act
(1)Societies which may be registered. - A Society which has its objects the promotion of the economic interest or general welfare of its members or of the public thought self help and mutual aid in accordance with Cooperative principles or a society established with the object of facilitating the operations of any society may be registered under this Act with limited liability.
