Section 10(5) in The Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar Act, 1969
(5)The Vice-Chancellor shall be the principal executive and academic officer of the University and shall exercise general control over its affairs in accordance with Statutes, Ordinances, and Regulations and give effect to the decisions of the authorities of the University. He shall be ex-officio Chairman of Senate, the Syndicate, the Academic Council and the Finance Committee and shall, in the absence of the Chancellor, preside at any convocation of the University. He shall be entitled to be present at and address any meeting of any authority or other body of the University.
