Section 1 in The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Act, 1978
1. Short title and commencement.
(1)This Act may be called the [Chennai] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the City of Madras (Alteration of Name) Act, 1996 (Tamil Nadu Act 28 of 1996).] Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Act, 1978.(2)It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification, appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different areas and for different provisions of this Act.
