Section 4 in THE COCHIN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACT, 1986
4. The University.-
(1)The Chancellor, the Pro-Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and the members of the Syndicate, the Senate and the Academic Council for the time being, shall constitute a body corporate by the name of the Cochin University of Science and Technology.(2)The University shall have perpectual successionand a common seal, and shall sue and be sued'by the said name.
