Seventeenth Loksabha > Title: Need to expedite the work of Mannuth-Vadakkanchery six lane road project in Kerala. KUMARI RAMYA HARIDAS (ALATHUR): Respected Speaker Sir, Coimbatore-Edapalli Highway 544 is one of the major Highways in Kerala. It is a four-lane road. But the route between Mannuthy and Vadakkanchery is in wretched condition. The National Highway Authority of India has given this work to contractors. But the work between Kuthiran-Mannuthy and Vadakkanchery flyover has not been completed yet. It is a very shameful thing to the Central Government. Now, the Sabarimala season has begun. Thousands of vehicles carrying pilgrims from Tamil Nadu and other States, and pilgrims to Guruvayur pass through this road. 15.00 hrs But the vehicles are struck here due to traffic blocked for hours. The people use this route to go to Thrissur Medical College for their medical facilities. The condition of vehicles, even ambulance, has been struck here due to traffic block. I humbly request to take positive steps to open one of the tunnels during the time of Sabarimala season with immediate effect assuring safety. 99 per centage of its work are already completed.
