State of Uttar Pradesh - Section

Section 5 in The Uttar Pradesh State Sports University Act, 2021

5. Objects of the University. -

The objects of the University shall be, -
(i)to provide an academic and professional development career pathway for young persons with physical aptitude and persons who are desirous of pursuing sports as a profession and devote their entire career to an Olympic recognised sports to reach national and international standards and win medals for India and continue in the profession by becoming a coach, manager or sports professional;
(ii)to develop sports persons meeting physical and skill standards by inculcating an attitude of continuous performance enhancement as per national and international standards by providing especially designed sports skills development and academic inputs in various areas of sports education, sports sciences and also incorporating advanced sports technologies for sports in sports persons and coaches;
(iii)to assist sports persons to acquire a Bachelor's Degree along with their career in sports. University will run Bachelor of Sports (three year Degree Course) with specialization in one of the Olympic recognised team/individual sports, focusing on Athletics. Hockey. Wrestling and Boxing, Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Handball, where the evaluation of the Bachelor's Degree will be based on participation and winning medals in the National University Games. National Games and International Sports Competitions:
(iv)to establish Specialized Centres and Institutions of Excellence focusing on specific sports discipline for imparting state of the art educational training and research in the fields of sports and sports sciences, sports technology and high performance sports training for Olympic sports especially focusing on Athletics, Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Wrestling and Boxing;
(v)to provide the knowledge of advanced physical education and sports coaching, providing specially designed academic training programmes in various areas of physical education, sports sciences and also advanced technologies of sports training which includes theoretical inputs and practical activity training to generate expertise and strengthening physical education and sports training programme to promote sports performances;
(vi)to establish centres and institutions of excellence for imparting state of the an educational training and research in the fields of physical education and sports sciences, sports technology and high performance training for all sports and games including indigenous games and martial arts;
(vii)to generate interdisciplinary capabilities and collaborations for the development of knowledge, skills and competencies at various levels in the Held of physical education and sports sciences, sports medicine, biomechanics, sports nutrition, sports technology, sports communication and journalism, disability sports, yoga, exercise and fitness therapy, tourism and adventure sports, water sports, sports management, sports Psychology and high performance training for all sports and games;
(viii)to generate capabilities to provide infrastructure of international standard for education, training and research in the areas related to physical education and sports sciences, sports technology, and high performance training for all sports and games;
(ix)to prepare highly qualified professionals in sports related specialized fields (counselling, testing data analytics, fitness and wellness, sports injury management, virtual reality/artificial intelligence applications, life-guard management in the Held of physical education and sports sciences, sports technology and high performance training for all sports and games;
(x)to serve as a Centre of Excellence for the elite sports persons, coaches and athletes of all sports and games and innovation in physical education and to carry out, endorse and propagate research, testing methodology to develop sports culture in the State;
(xi)to (unction as a leading resource centre for knowledge and development in the area of physical education and sports sciences, sports technology, sports event management, sports mass communication and high performance training for all sports and games;
(xii)to provide international collaboration in the fields of physical education and sports sciences, sports technology, bio mechanics, nutrition and high performance training for all sports and games;
(xiii)to establish close linkage with schools, colleges, Universities, sports and recreation clubs, societies, sports associations boards and international sports federations. Academies and institutes for the purpose of teaching, training and research in physical education and sports sciences, sports technology, sports medicines and high performance training for all sports and games;
(xiv)such other objects, not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act which the State Government may, on an application by the University, by notification in the Gazette, specify in this behalf:
(xv)to provide vocational guidance and placement services in physical education, sports sciences, sports medicine, sports technology and other related fields.
