Section 42A(1) in The Tamil Nadu District Police Act, 1859
(1)Any Police Officer not below the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police may, in the interest of public order, depute by order in writing one or more Police Officers or other persons to be present in any assembly, meeting or procession, in any public place for the purpose of causing a report to be taken of the proceedings.
