Safety Of Migrant Labourers on 18 December, 2017
Sixteenth Loksabha an> Title: Safety of migrant labourers PROF. SAUGATA ROY (DUM DUM): Mr. Mohammad Afrazul, from West Bengal was hacked and burnt to death in Rajsamand district, Rajasthan byShabhu Lal Raigar, who was seen ranting against “love Jihad” in a video. Unfortunately, Rajasthan Government did not take serious action to ensure security of migrated labourers. West Bengal Chief Minister announced Rs. 3 lakh and government job to the victim’s family. The video of the gruesome incident went viral on social media and after nationwide protest against the heinous crime, the state police was forced to arrest Raigar. West Bengal government directed its DGP to take necessary action toensure the security of about 3,500 labourers from West Bengal who are working in the state of Rajasthan. I would urge central government to impress upon State Government toprovide adequate safety to migrant labourers.
