SHRI RAJU SHETTY (HATKANANGLE): Dhangar caste of Maharashtra for their survival wander extensively in the hilly area. On the one hand, due to urbanization and extensive farming they have been banned in the hilly area. This has led to difficulties in the way of development of this community. Next generation of this community also suffers from lack of education, medical facility and unable to taste the fruits of development. Though the Government accept the fact that this community belongs to Scheduled Tribes like ORAN community, but has denied them this status. GOVERNMENT OF INDIA REPORT ON THE BACKWARD CLASSES COMMISSION VOL-II (LIST 1955 PAGE No. 66) clearly mentions the deep backwardness of this community. DESCRIPTIVE ETHNOLOGY OF BENGAL -1872- In this book on Page -215 the information regarding the Oran community (ST) is given and also mentioned about the similar community like DHANGAR who resides in the hill area and involved in animal management. There are many Government documents showing the status of Dhangar community. It is my humble request to the Government of India to include Dhangar Caste in the list of Scheduled Tribes.
