Section 17(1) in Assam Shops and Establishments Act, 1971
(1)Notwithstanding anything contained in the Payment of Wages Act, 1936(Central Act 4 of 1956), referred to as the said Act, the State Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, direct that, subject to the provision of sub-section (2), the said Act or any of the provisions thereof or of the rules made thereunder shall apply to all or any class of employees in establishments to which this Act applies.
