Regarding Death Of 8 Labourers Of West Bengal In A Tragic Accident In Bhutan. on 21 July, 2016

Sixteenth Loksabha an> Title:    Regarding death of 8 labourers of West Bengal in a tragic accident in Bhutan.

SHRIMATI MAUSAM NOOR (MALDAHA): I would like to draw your kind attention to a very tragic incident in which eight labourers belonging to my constituency in Maldaha, West Bengal were washed away and one labourer was severely injured which they were working on the Amochu bailey suspension bridge over Amochu river in Bhutan which suddenly collapsed.

The deceased labourers were very young. They had gone all the way to Bhutan in search of employment to sustain their poor families. I visited the homes of the deceased and I am a loss of words in expressing the dismal condition of the families. They are totally shattered by their loss and their future is in peril since the deceased were the sole bread earners of the families           The Royal Government of Bhutan has announced an ex-gratia payment of Bhutanese Ngultrum 10,000 to the family of each deceased worker.

Through you, I urge upon the Government of India to help the families of the deceased labourers by providing monetary help and also their next of kin with a permanent job so that the future of the family is sound and their children can look forward to a promising life ahead.  Thank you.

HON. SPEAKER:

Kunwar Pushpendra Singh Chandel is allowed to associate with the matter raised by Shrimati Mausam Noor. SHRIMATI V. SATHYABAMA (TIRUPPUR): Hon. Speaker, I seek your permission to speak from this seat. HON. SPEAKER: All right.
