Section 10(2) in The Standards of Weights and Measures (National Standards) Rules, 1988
(2)The use of the units specified in Schedule VII or, as the case may be, Schedule VIII, shall be progressively discontinued so that no such unit is used in any field (except in the field of scientific and technological research) after the expiry of a period of ten years from the commencement of these rules.
