Section 68 in Life Insurance Corporation of India (Staff) Regulations, 1960

68. Quarantine Leave.

- Quarantine is leave of absence from duty necessitated by orders not to attend office in consequence of the presence of infectious diseases in the household of a Corporation employee. Such leave may be granted by the competent authority on the certificate of a Medical or Public Health Officer for a period not exceeding 21 days, or, in exceptional circumstances, 30 days. Any leave necessary for quarantine purposes in excess of this period shall be treated as ordinary leave. A Corporation employee on quarantine leave is not treated as absent from duty. When the employee himself is suffering from infectious disease, he shall not be entitled to quarantine leave. He shall be entitled only to privilege, sick or extraordinary leave, as the case may be.Notes: 1. The term "Medical or Public Health Officer" occurring in this regulation includes Medical Officer-in-Charge of any Government (Civil or Military) or Municipal hospital or dispensary, or a qualified medical practitioner appointed by the Corporation. In the case of a Corporation employee at whose place of duty there is no Government or Municipal hospital or dispensary, it includes the Medical Officer-in-Charge of a Government or Municipal hospital or dispensary situated nearest to his place of duty or a qualified medical practitioner appointed by the Corporation.
