31. Compounding of offences.
(1)The prescribed authority may accept from any person who is reasonably suspected of having committed an offence under this Act, a sum of money by way of compounding of such offence and may out of the money so received, compensate the person against whom the offence has been committed to the extent the prescribed authority deems reasonable.(2)On the compounding of offence, no further proceedings in respect thereof shall be taken against the accused and if any proceeding has already been instituted against him in a court, the compounding of offence shall have the effect of acquittal.Chapter - 5 Miscellaneous
