Section 15(1) in The Chota Nagpur Tenancy Act, 1908
(1)Where the Court or officer by whom a process was issued for service on any person is satisfied that there is reason to believe that such person is keeping out of the way for purpose of avoiding service, or that for any other reason the process cannot be served in the ordinary way, the Court or officer shall order the process to be served by affixing a copy thereof in some conspicuous place in the Court or in the office of such officer, as the case may be, and also upon some conspicuous part of the house (if any) in which the said person is known to have last resided or carried on business or personally worked for gain, or in such other manner as the Court thinks fit.
