ORDER
% 04.03.2021 The hearing was conducted through physical court.
1. The learned counsel for the Forest Department, GNCTD submits that the Department will conduct special workshops to sensitise the government personnel/officers of the imperative to preserve and protect the green cover in Delhi, especially in terms of orders passed by this Court and by the National Green Tribunal ('NGT'). The Delhi Police shall specifically be invited in this capacity building exercise.
Signature Not Verified Digitally signed By:KAMLESH KUMAR Signing Date:05.03.2021 12:19:13Let the communication in this regard be addressed to the Commissioner of Police, who shall direct due attendance of the police personnel/officers from each police station, preferably of Sub- Inspector level, in such workshops and for further disseminating information apropos preservation of green cover and forest areas in Delhi, about the nuances of the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994 and environmental laws, especially about noise and air pollution. The next seminar/workshop in this regard shall be held this month itself.
2. The Forest Department will supply a hard-copy compilation and e- copy of statutes, rules and regulations to Delhi Police, within a week from today. It may also supply display-posters of the imperatives of environmental laws, to be exhibited as ready-reminders in police stations. Delhi Police may consider including such material in its training programmes/syllabi at its training schools, if not already included.
3. Let fresh affidavits be filed by the respondents in compliance of the order dated 19.01.2021.
4. The learned ASC for PWD, GNCTD submits that an Amended Circular has been issued, directing all Departments to ensure that there is no construction or concretisation within two-metre radius of a tree.
5. Renotify on 12.04.2021.
6. The order be uploaded on the website forthwith.
