Section 9B(3) in The Punjab Security of State Act, 1953
(3)Any police officer, or any other person authorised in this behalf by the State Government or the District Magistrate, may search any person entering or seeking to enter, or being on or in, or leaving, a protected area, and any vehicle, vessel, animal or article brought in by such person, and may, for the purpose of the search, detain such person, vehicle, animal or article:Provided that no woman shall be searched in pursuance of this sub- section except by a woman.
