DR. THOKCHOM MEINYA (INNER MANIPUR): Sir, four innocent people, all Bhaktas and devotees, including one child and an old man, were killed and more than fifty others were injured in a powerful grenade attack yesterday in the ISKCON complex at Imphal, Manipur, during the Krishna Janmashtami celebration. When a powerful grenade was hurled into the crowd, the Ras Lila was in progress and all those gathered were in a very festive mood. Maharaj Damodar, the head of the ISKCON, was one among those who were injured.
I would request the august House to strongly condemn this dastardly act and the killing of innocent devotees in religious places of worship and to initiate action to see that such unfortunate incidents do not recur.

श्री चंद्रकांत खैरे : महोदय, मंदिरों में सुरक्षा की व्यवस्था भी व्यापक तौर पर की गई। लेकिन दुर्भाग्यवश इम्फाल के इस्कान मंदिर में आतंकवादियों ने आतंकवादी कृत्य किया और करीब ४-५ लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई तथा ५० लोग गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए।
महोदय, मैं आपके माध्यम से सरकार से जानना चाहता हूं कि ये आतंकवादी कौन थे, कहां से आए थे? क्या उनका दिल्ली से कोई संबंध है या मुम्बई बम ब्लास्ट से कोई रिलेशन है? हिंदुओं के मंदिरों पर ही क्यों हमला करना चाहते हैं? उनका मकसद क्या है और क्या वे पाकिस्तान से मिले हुए हैं? इन सारी बातों का गम्भीरता से अध्ययन करना पड़ेगा। देश को और हिंदुओं के मंदिरों को बचाना पड़ेगा। मंदिरों में सीधे-साधे श्रद्धालु पूजा कर रहे थे। वहां ऐसा आतंकवादी कृत्य हो जाना, यह बहुत शर्मनाक बात है। मैं आपके माध्यम से सरकार से कहना चाहता हूं कि इस बारे में कड़ी कार्यवाही करनी चाहिए और जो भी संगठन इस कृत्य के पीछे है, उसे पूरी तरह से तबाह कर देना चाहिए।

Yesterday, Krishna Janmashtmi festival was celebrated all over the country and abroad also. The incident of throwing a powerful hand grenade in the ISKCON Temple at Imphal, when more than 20,000 devotees were present in the temple, is of grave concern for all of us. I would like to highlight the core point behind this incident.
There are more than 20 Aatankvadis in the Manipur State. They are demanding banning of Hindi films in Manipur.
MR. SPEAKER: It is a different issue.
SHRI TAPIR GAO (ARUNACHAL EAST): I am coming to it, Sir.
They are demanding banning of Hindi films, wearing of sarees and Salwar Kamezj in schools and banning Bangla script. Hindu temples are one of their targets[R28] .
Therefore, I would urge upon the Government to find out the militant outfits who have done this.
I would like to inform you that last time the (Interruptions)* … have been quoted by the Army to have given Rs.150 crore to the militant outfits. So, if the (Interruptions)* … is involved in such activities then who will take care of such incidents and the law and order situation of the State of Manipur.

SHRI TAPIR GAO : Therefore, I would urge upon the Government to take necessary steps against the State of Manipur.
