Section 70(1) in The Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis Act, 1961
(1)[The Chairman or Deputy Chairman of a Panchayat Samiti may remain absent for thirty days in the aggregate in a year without permission and he may be granted leave of absence for a period exceeding thirty days but not exceeding ninety days in the aggregate in a year by the Panchayat Samiti and for any period exceeding ninety days by the Standing Committee] [This portion was substituted for the portion beginning with 'A Panchayat Samiti' and ending with 'one hundred and eighty days in a year' by Maharashtra 35 of 1963, Section 25.] but no leave exceeding one hundred and eighty days in any one year shall be granted:[Provided that, if the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman are on leave together, the Chairman of the Subjects Committee chosen by the Chief Executive Officer by drawing lots in such manner as he deemed fit, shall exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Chairman of the Samiti until the Chairman or as the case may be, the Deputy Chairman of the Samiti resumes duty.] [This proviso was added by Maharashtra 8 of 1966, Section 5.]
