11:17 hrs. ELECTION OF THE SPEAKER Title: Motion for election of speaker moved by Smt. Sonia Gandhi and seconded by Shri Pranab Mukherjee. Motion adopted. Shri Somnath Chatterjee chosen as the Speaker. MR. SPEAKER: Now, we take up the Motions for the Election of Speaker of Lok Sabha Sabha. SPEAKER: The Motion is carried and Shri Somnath Chatterjee is declared elected as the Speaker of this House. I have great pleasure in inviting him to occupy the Chair. Shri Somnath Chatterjee was conducted to the Chair by the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Leader of the House, Shri Pranab Mukherjee and the Leader of the Opposition, Shri L.K. Advani.
