Section 11(17) in THE COCHIN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACT, 1986
(17)In the event of a permanent vacancy occurring in the office of the Vice-Chancellor, the Chancellor shall make necessary arrangements for exercising the powers and performing the duties of the Vice-Chancellor until a Vice-Chancellor who is appointed under the provisions of this Act, assumes office.
