- Every ward or other compartment intended for the accommodation of prisoners by night shall be provided with masonry sleeping berths, equal in number to the capacity of the ward according to the prescribed scale. Each berth shall be six and a half feet long, two and a quarter feet broad and eighteen inches high, and shall be constructed with a slight slope down from the head. The head of each berth shall be on the opposite side to the heads of the berths (if any) on either side of it. The space between every two berths shall, ordinarily not be less than two feet.
