Section 700(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)The Armed Inspector is responsible for telling off head constables, naiks and constables for guard and escort duties. Before the force leaves the police lines the Armed Inspector, or in his absence the Sergeant or the Sub-Inspector or the senior drill instructor, shall satisfy himself that it is properly equipped and shall make a note of such inspection in the roster of duty.
